New materials regarding research in the fields of architecture and urban construction are being presented. The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

Pyotr Plavov. Different aspects of the Late Empire style architect’s method. Part One
The first part of the essay is dedicated to Pyotr Sergeyevich Plavov’s method and contains a brief summary of architect’s career. P. S. Plavov was a St. Petersburg architect who continued to rely on the traditions of the Empire style and Classicism during the second quarter of the 19th century. The article analyses architect’s main projects: the stairs in the Children’s Services building and the Church of the Intercession and focuses on the analysis of the Orphans Institute. The article explains the historical significance of Plavov’s work during transition to new compositional schemes typical for Eclecticism.
