New materials regarding research in the fields of architecture and urban construction are being presented. The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

Department of Architecture at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture: graduation projects for silver medals, 1866–1908

The paper is devoted to the department of Architecture at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at the stage of accomplishing study projects. The author looks into period from 1866 to 1908, when students used to be awarded with small and large silver medals for their graduation projects. The paper analyses the programmes composed by the teachers for students from the freshmen (3rd grade) to the final grade and illustrates it with the projects from Shchusev State Museum of Architecture, the Museum of Moscow, Museum at Moscow Architectural Institute, Russian State Archive of Literature and Arts. Most of the presented projects are published for the first time.
