New materials regarding research in the fields of architecture and urban construction are being presented. The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

Retrospective Tendencies and Reconstruction of Historical Buildings in St. Petersburg in 1906–1908
In 1906–1908 the Tauride and the Mariinsky palaces were reconstructed and turned into the State Duma and the State Council buildings respectively. The new conference rooms design required a subsequent reorganization of the palaces’ spatial structure, however this process went along with the given style of the interiors. Several other historical buildings reconstructions carried out during the same period used the classicist approaches. All the examples given in the article trace the influence of retrospective tendencies. The most interesting example is the L. N. Benoit work for the Mariinsky Palace.
