The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

Regarding the Original Cathedral of the Tver Zhioltikov Monastery

The article is devoted to the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Tver Zhioltikov monastery. The church was erected in the early 15th century, and was later demolished in the first half of the 17th century. The present paper suggests another variant of the building’s reconstruction than the one published in the early 1960s by N.N. Voronin. Speaking about the possible stylistic features of this Tver building, the author of the present work assumes that its appearance was a synthesis of traits belonging to the architecture of North-Eastern Rus’ and to that of the North-Western region. One must not exclude the possibility that the Balkan influence has found its reflection in Tver architecture of the 14th – 15th centuries (when, as a matter of fact, the Cathedral of the Zhioltikov Monastery was built).
