New materials regarding research in the fields of architecture and urban construction are being presented. The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

I. E. Grabar’s Architectural Experience. Dedicated to the Centennial of the Hospital Named after S. G. Zakharyin in Kurkino
I. E. Grabar’s name is widely known owing to his achievements in painting and restoration science. However, I. E. Grabar’s activities as a practicing architect are almost completely ignored. Nevertheless, we should remember that this profession had always attracted him, a fact which he never concealed. Here the author attempts, looking at documents, memoirs and a rich epistolary collection, to demonstrate Grabar’s interest in working as an architect. Doubtless, the construction experience that he acquired in the Kurkino Estate (Moscow Region) enriched his architectural knowledge and language, as well as influenced his future research in history and architecture.
