New materials regarding research in the fields of architecture and urban construction are being presented. The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

Graphic Heritage of Alexander Bryullov. The Pictorial Language of the Architect
The paper analyzes the graphic heritage of architect Alexander Bryullov (1798–1877). After sharpening his talent as a draughtsman during his advanced education abroad (1822–1829), he achieved excellent results and substantially widened the notion of architectural landscape, changed the stylistic features of landscape and genre compositions and worked out a new type of graphic portrait-painting. During his long artistic career Bryullov created more than six hundred graphic sheets, intended for various purposes which differ in terms of their quality and are not directly connected with his individual projects. Until recently that heritage was not studied by specialists. The author closely looks at the specific traits of the architect’s artistic style and attempts to classify his numerous works. Special attention is given to watercolor pictures, which show more clearly the skills of Alexander Bryullov as a painter of the Romantic epoch.
