Cooperation between the Architect and the Sculptor in the Work on the Stucco Decor of Moscow Buildings in the Late 18th — First Third of the 19th Century

The author studies the cooperation between architect and sculptor in the process of creating the décor of a building. Sculptors would sometimes realize the design of the architect completely in accordance with the original scheme, or, otherwise, would introduce some changes. In other instances various architects turned to a single workshop and then different constructions — public offices, private residences and eccle-siastic edifices (Upper Market Stalls, a city estate, a mausoleum-burial vault) — would have similar details. Thus it turned out that some molded reliefs, made by Albani for the Yekateriniski Palace (its interior did not come down to us), appeared among the reliefs of the Passage Gallery to the Ostankino Egyptian Pavilion.
