New materials regarding research in the fields of architecture and urban construction are being presented. The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

The Architecture of the Churches of the Novolineiny Region in the South Urals

The paper aims at analyzing a broad number of issues, connected with the planning, architecture and style of the churches of the Cossack Novolineiny Region of the South Urals. The work focuses on an important, but previously understudied sphere in the local artistic heritage. For the first time descriptions of little-known churches of the Cossack Russian Orthodox Architecture are being published, based on the author’s field observations. The research also takes into consideration materials from local and central archives. As a result, the paper offers an analysis of the evolution and of the characteristic traits present in the architecture of the South Urals Orthodox Cossack Churches, dating to the middle and the second half of the 19th century.
