The Trinity Church of the Former Alexandrovski Hermitage and the Tent-Roof Churches of the Second Half of the 17th Century

The paper describes the Trinity Church of the Alexandrovski Hermitage in the Rybinsk District of the Yaroslavl Region. This building of three tent-roofs was erected around 1678 in a monastery, founded at the turn of the 15th and closed in the 18th century. Transformed into a village parish church, it was finally shut down in the late 1920s and presently lies in ruins. In the late 19th-early 20th century I.A. Tikhomirov, a Yaroslavl local historian and restorer, worked out a project of restoring the building, fixing on paper those of its parts which no longer exist today. The article analyzes the role of the Trinity Church, with its miniature tent-roof top, within the context of other tent-roof constructions of the second half of the 17th century. The author further points out that edifices of a similar scheme (but without tent-roofs) appeared in the Yaroslavl Region in the 18th century as well.
