Works by Lev Kekushev for the Imperial Moscow Technical School: New Materials

The article traces in detail the work of the Moscow architect L. N. Kekushev on the reconstruction and new buildings in the complex of the Imperial Moscow Technical School in the late 19th — early 20th century. This educational institution was located in the former Sloboda Palace, built by D. Zhilyardi, which imposed a special responsibility on the architect. Brin ging previously unknown facts, the author emphasizes not only the technical innovations that the architect introduced in the project to make the laboratory facilities convenient for testing, but also a certain traditionality of architectural forms, that allowed organic compound with the classic forms of the initial building. With this work Kekushev proved himself as an experienced architect, capable of successfully coping with the technical and architectural tasks of any complexity.
