New materials regarding research in the fields of architecture and urban construction are being presented. The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

In Memory of Maria Borisovna Mikhailova

The all-Russian scientific conference «History of Architecture and Urban Planning of Russia. New Materials and Researches» held in the fall of 2017  was dedicated to the memory of Maria Mikhailova (1932–2017), who worked in Scientific Research Institute of the Theory and History of Architecture and Urban Planning for more than half a century. She was a Ph.  D. of art history, leading research fellow of the Department of History of Architecture and Urban Planning of the New Time, Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences advisor, laureate of the State prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art, a member of the Union of Architects of Russia, member of the board of Society for the Study of the Russian Estates. Mikhailova’s scientific specialization was the architecture of antiquity and classical traditions in architecture and urban planning in modern Europe and Russia.

Articles and memoirs written by her colleagues, friends and heirs reveal the creative way and the method of Maria Borisovna, as well as her scientific interests and achievements.
