I. A. Kazus’.

А. Z. Grinberg’s Creative Activity in Saratov (1919–1922). Part Two

Studying archive materials the author analyzes the Saratov period in the biography of architect A. Z. Grinberg. In 1919 he was commissioned to build the factory “Zvezda” (Star) and its residential complex. Grinberg carried out the project involving this plan, as well as the new urban development of a part of Saratov, which had been destroyed by fire in 1921. Just like in the case of the city itself, he participated in the first competitions that took place in its Province, related to construction of new types of public buildings (proletarian house, house-commune, hospital complex, etc.), which were partly realized. The work of A. Z. Grinberg in Saratov is viewed within the context of mutual influences, involving such important architects as V. N. Semionov, L. A. Serk, M. V. Kriukov, A. K. Ivanov, D. F. Fridman and others.
