New materials regarding research in the fields of architecture and urban construction are being presented. The authors also focus on the history of the creation of little-known buildings of interest, on the development of local architectural traditions, on new attributions, and introduce recently discovered archive materials. A number of papers are dedicated to the issues of architectural and urban planning development of historical towns and cities or study the formation of architectural ensembles. The edition also includes papers that are devoted to theoretical historical-architectural problems, to biographies of architects, or analyze artistic approaches and concepts.

One Little-Known Project of the Strelka of the Vasiliyevski Island, Dating to the 1730s
Among the various projects of developing the Academy of Sciences’ quarter one may note a certain 1730s project, containing the layouts that foreshadowed the scheme that the tip of the Vasiliyevski Island would acquire only in the early 19th century. This project includes the main axes of the general composition, configuration of the interior square and the positioning of dominants. This sagacity, which may be observed in the exceptionally well executed urban plan, allows us to consider the project in question as an outstanding example of architectural thought in the first half of the 18th century.
